The Bruce Sneddon Golf Challenge 2011

The fourth Bruce Sneddon Golf Challenge will once again be held in honour of an amazing friend, a wonderful colleague and an exceptional man who passed away tragically on the 28^th of July 2007.

Please join us for the golfing event of the year, a day of entertainment, fantastic prizes, a unique and entertaining guest speaker and above all, the opportunity to carry on from the past three years’ fund raising events.

All proceeds from the day go to the continued maintenance of the new Bruce Sneddon Bursary at Pretoria Boys High School.

MTN GOLDEN LIONS CHARITY GOLF DAY

Wednesday, 24 August 2011 at Randpark Golf Club

On Wednesday, 24 August 2011 the Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) will host a Golf Day at Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg.

Proceeds of this golf day will go to two very deserving charities, the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home and Broken Wings in Alberton. Broken Wings is a day care centre catering for adults living with disabilities, while Abraham Kriel Children’s Home looks after children orphaned due to many different circumstances.

You will be given the option to include a MTN Lions player, coach or member of the Lions team management to play in your fourball/s should you choose.

Apart from buying a fourball, the following opportunities exist:

Sponsorship of one of the 18 holes
Donation of prizes for the fourballs
Cash donations

1. COMPETITION FORMAT AND PRIZE GIVING:

The competition format will be a Fourball Alliance, Scramble Drive, 2 Scores to Count.

The prize giving ceremony will start at approximately 18h30 and the dress code will be smart casual. Dinner will be served directly after prize giving.

2. RULES:

Players must conform to the Royal and Ancient Golf Rules for Amateurs, as well as all local rules displayed on the Notice Board at CMR.

As it is a Fourball Alliance, please pick up your ball if you cannot contribute on a hole, and speed up play. You should be directly behind the group leading you, and not directly in front of the group behind you!

JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION

1. DETAILS OF THE FOUNDATION

Wade Jacobs was selected as captain of the U18 team to represent North West Province at the 50th Annual South African Inter Provincial Tournament which was held at the Humewood Golf Course from 12 to 18 December 2010.

The tournament was hosted under the auspices of the South African Golf Foundation which serves Junior Golf in South Africa.

Although the North West Division of the Foundation carries a large proportion of the cost, it does not have the financial means to cover all the costs for the week and the parents are expected to contribute the shortfall.

Parents generally are not able to cover these extra costs as it is a foundation, and kindly ask for any donations to the foundation to help with future such events for the development of golf in South African youth.
